Call for submissions: essays about forgiveness.
One of the books I’d like to publish is a collection of essays about forgiveness. I’m hoping people will share stories about the importance of forgiveness and how they found it in themselves to forgive a person or an act that was difficult to forgive. I think there are a lot of very inspiring stories out there, and it would help a lot of people if we share them.
If you have a story about forgiveness, please submit it using our online submissions form.
Submissions deadline: Open until further notice.

As a pastor, the topic of forgiveness nearly dominates my theology. Yet it took me more than half my life to forgive my father for a perceived wrong. I have not yet written the story, but I need to! Is there a deadline?
Shalom!

Rev. Mitchel: Thank you for visiting Dream of Things, and thank you for your question. There is no firm deadline. As we receive more submissions and as we get close to having a full anthology on this and other topics, I will put out a final call for submissions and set a firm deadline for each topic. So you have time. Good luck with putting your story on paper. I look forward to reading it. -Mike O’Mary
Would you also be interested in a story of someone who forgave me? It changed my life twenty years after the fact. And it stunned me to know I could have been forgiven almost immediately, if I had not assumed that what I had done was unforgiveable.
Andrea: That sounds like a great story with a great lesson. I would love to read it. Please send it to me at editor@dreamofthings.com.
Would you be interested in a storry where I have forgiven, but cannot forget. My book, which is finished by now, would explain all the cicumstances.
Steffie Steinke
Steffie: Is it a story, or a whole book? If you like, you can send me a story or a sample passage from your book. Send it to me at editor@dreamofthings.com. Thanks! -Mike
Hi- I have a series of short stories based on my childhood and there are some that are about forgiveness. Even though these stories are told through a child they are true events. Would this qualify?
Hi Stephanie. A story of forgiveness from a child’s point of view sounds interesting. If you’d like to submit one, send it to me at editor@dreamofthings.com and I’ll get back to you asap.
Before I begin my story on forgiveness, I would like to know the approximate time frame that is available. Thank you.
Hi Nancy. I think it will be the fall before we publish the forgiveness anthology, so you probably have 3-4 months to submit. If you are subscribed to the newsletter, I will put out a final call for submissions for each anthology before submissions close.
Hi Mike;
How about a story about a grand daughter getting information to her dying grandmother so that the grandmother can forgive herself for smething she flet stained he life?
Christina
Hi Christina. I like the idea. Sounds like a good story.
Mike I’d like to submit a story about foregiveness in our family….it’s more about my Dad and my sister though….is it appropriate to write about someone else’s foregiveness or should it be strictly from the vantage point of the writer’s experience?
Judy
I have a wonderful story of forgiveness although I’m not one of the characters. Would this story still be acceptable.
Many thanks,
Kathy
Hi Kathleene. Thanks for the note. You do not have to be one of the characters in your story. We only require that the story be nonfiction. -Mike
Thank you, Mike. It’s non-fiction so we’re in business after I do a little spiffing up on it!
